![]() ![]() The CD metadata format was a war torn child. I've notice that whenever I change stations, I always get the start of a song, and there's often a time displayed in the lower left corner (m:ss format) that I suspect is how far behind realtime is being played. I suspect that part of the issue with the satellite radio has to do with buffering. Once the car's been running for 10 minutes or so, both are fairly responsive. If you press the button to change the station, it does nothing for about 30 seconds, then the audio changes and then the screen updates 15 or 20 seconds later. The 2022 also has a delay (maybe 60 to 90 seconds) before it responds to channel changes on the satellite radio. Same experience with USB devices taking for-flipping-EVER to load up and play. We only got it because she wanted leather seats, which dictated the GT trim level. The radio is just as bad as the brain-dead nav. It takes so long for the stupid thing to display the contents, and it's missing so many random fields, that too much attention is required to select a piece, so I never listen to it. I put some albums on an 8GB USB stick to play in our 2018 Mazda3. That have been recorded on CD-R/CDRW/CD-ROMs. I'm somewhat annoyed at Mazda for being unhelpful with producing accurate spec sheets for which digital audio formats they support and which USB drive specs are supported. Apparently the restrictions to USB 2.0 only are not warranted. ![]() I tried it in the MX-5 and the basic WMA also worked there. In the CX-5, WMA lossless didn't work but basic WMA did work. Ripping using Windows Media Player Legacy under Win 11. I'm left to experiment.įirst tests used an ADATA 32GB USB 3.1 drive formatted FAT32. My 2023 CX-5 owner's manual does not state anything about music on USB drives. States "does not support USB 3.0 device" and recommends 16GB or less capacity, FAT32 format. My 2018 MX-5 owner's manual says MP3/WMA/AAC supported on Audio Type A, and MP3/WMA/AAC/OGG supported on Audio Type B. I encourage owners of various Mazda models to post here. So I thought I'd start a thread on Mazda model-wide use that owners have actual experience with formats and drives, either working or not working. ![]()
